Ingredients
1 pound beef round or flank steak, sliced into thin strips
1 pound fresh broccoli florets
1 tablespoon sesame oil (for the broccoli)
1/2 cup beef broth
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon dried onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dried garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
Instructions
Whisk beef broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, cornstarch, and dry spices in a bowl.
Add beef strips to bowl and let marinate while prepping vegetables.
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Stir-fry broccoli for 5 minutes until crisp-tender and remove from pan.
Increase heat to medium-high and add marinated beef to the hot pan.
Stir-fry beef for 1-2 minutes until browned and cooked to desired doneness.
Return broccoli to the pan and toss with beef and sauce until thickened and heated through.
Notes
Ensure the beef is sliced against the grain to guarantee maximum tenderness. For an even quicker meal, you can prep the sauce and slice the beef up to 24 hours in advance. Always use a high-heat stable oil for the stir-fry portion to prevent burning.
